It’s hard to believe that Hear Aberystwyth has now been supporting local hearing health for a full year.
Over the past 12 months, we’ve had the privilege of welcoming patients from Aberystwyth and across Wales into our family-run audiology clinic. From routine hearing checks to ear wax removal and hearing aid support, we are incredibly grateful for the trust our community has placed in us.
A Year of Caring for Our Local Community
When we opened our doors, our aim was simple:
to offer friendly, professional, and genuinely personal hearing care in a relaxed, local setting — while also giving something back to the community we serve.
Over the last year, we’ve helped people:
- Hear conversations more clearly
- Feel more confident in social situations
- Get fast relief from blocked ears
- Understand their hearing health without pressure or jargon
Being a family-run clinic means we take the time to listen, explain, and ensure every patient feels comfortable — and that approach has shaped everything we do.
Supporting Local Jobs and Future Healthcare Professionals
From the very beginning, we wanted Hear Aberystwyth to be more than just a clinic. We wanted it to be a positive contributor to the local area, helping grow local talent while delivering high-quality care.
Over the past year, we are proud to have:
- Created local employment opportunities by employing people from the community
- Funded and continue to support one of our team members as they study at university to become a qualified Audiologist
- Funded CPD-certified training in ear wax removal, enabling our team member to become a qualified Ear Wax Removal Specialist and successfully lead our ear wax removal clinic, providing safe and effective care for our patients
- Partnered with Coleg Ceredigion to provide work placements for students, offering real-world experience in a healthcare setting
- Agreed to offer future placement opportunities with Aberystwyth University, supporting students as they begin their professional journeys
By investing in people locally and developing specialist skills, we are helping to strengthen healthcare services in Mid and West Wales, now and for the future.
Raising Awareness Within the Community
In addition to clinical care, we believe education is key.
Over the past year, we’ve delivered talks and presentations to local community groups, helping to raise awareness of:
- Hearing loss and its early signs
- The impact hearing difficulties can have on wellbeing
- The importance of regular hearing checks
These sessions allow us to reach people who may not yet realise that support is available — and to reassure them that help is local, friendly, and accessible.
Our Commitment Going Forward
As we continue to grow — including the upcoming opening of our Aberteifi clinic — our commitment remains the same:
- To provide excellent, personalised hearing care
- To support local employment and education
- To play an active role in the communities we serve
We’re incredibly proud of what has been achieved in our first year and grateful to everyone who has supported us along the way.
Thank You to Our Patients
We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has visited us over the past year.
Many of our patients have come to us through personal recommendations, and that means a great deal to our team. Your feedback, kind words, and continued support have helped us grow and improve our services.
